Darke County Agricultural Production

Darke County's Farms

Darke County is one of the top agricultural counties in Ohio. Major farm products are soybeans, corn, hogs, poultry, livestock, wheat, dairy, and beef cattle.

The county’s 358,000 acres of farm land are divided into 1,980 farms. The average farm is 167 acres. In 1998 Darke County ranked number two in the state with total ag receipts of $232,256,000.

Diversification of agricultural enterprises has been responsible for the steady yearly income from agriculture, and has enabled Darke County to maintain its high rank in agricultural production.
