Darke County offers a number of opportunities for those interested in the cultural arts-- as participants and as audiences.
Instrumental and vocal music have long been important to residents of this area. Top-rated high school bands and orchestra offer students performing opportunities. Adults may play in The Greenville Community Concert Band, which presents a series of Sunday summer concerts in the band shell of the Greenville City Park. Other smaller instrumental ensembles form to play for programs of The Greenville Music Club for community musicals and special events. Opportunities for vocalists to perform exist within the music clubs in community based musicals, as well as in concert with The Darke County Oratorio Society.
The visual arts are organized within The Darke County Center for the Arts and The Darke County Art Guild. The Darke County Art Guild is an association of amateur and professional artists which sponsors juried shows as well as educational workshops and lectures. The Darke County Center for the Arts is headquartered at The Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville.
