Darke County has again utilized its low interest revolving loan program to assist the expansion of a local business.Last Friday, the county commissioners closed the 15-year, 1.8% loan which will enable All American Clothing Co to move into the former Creative Cabinets facility in Arcanum.

Workforce development is P4P's number one priority for 2012 and will likely remain the top priority for years to come. The need seems obvious for many reasons as hundreds of thousands of well-paid manufacturing positions in this country go unfilled due to a lack of skills in the labor force.

The Greenville Micropolitan area, which includes all of Darke County,  has been recognized again as one of the top areas in the country for development of business projects.  Site Selection Magazine, the premier national economic development publication, placed Greenville 21st out of 576 Micropolitan areas in
the country for 2011.

This slide was presented recently at the Dayton Development Coalition's annual meeting. It shows the coalition's membership on a map marked with orange dots. The nice part is this- the dot size correlates with the number of projects brought forward in 2011. As you can see, only Clark county did as well as us. So....what does this mean?

This was one of several "positives" noted by the county's ED head at a recent Partnering for Progress Quarterly Meeting at the Greenville Golf Club.

Well, it's no surprise to any of us here in Darke County but there is now supporting evidence showing that manufacturing in the United States is on an upswing. I am happy to say that this has been apparent for awhile. While there may not be as many counties across the country with companies exploring expansion as here in Darke, there was little chance that what's been happening here is completely isolated. Obviously, this is great news because so many of our local projects are tied to what is happening elsewhere.

Ramco Electric Motors will shortly be getting a new home in Greenville. The company has announced its purchase of the former Timmerman Truss facility in Greenville's industrial Park at 5763 Jaysville-St. Johns road and expects to shortly begin the relocation process. Currently, Ramco resides at 1355 Sater Street in Greenville.
