Columbus - Today, the Ohio Department of Development announced the International Market Access Grant for Exporters (IMAGE) program, which is part of the National Export Initiative to double U.S. exports by 2015. The program is administered through the Department's Office of Export Assistance and is designed to increase exports and create jobs by helping small businesses promote their products and services in new international markets.

On-the-Job Training Grants may be made to employers who hire dislocated or other unemployed persons. There are several different programs, each having its own unique characteristics and requirements. In all of the programs, it is critical that the employer and the job seekers complete all eligibility and application requirements before the hiring takes place. All grant awards are based upon the availability of funds and budget limits do exist.
Staff members of the Job Center Network and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (contact names and numbers provided) are available to provide assistance in determining eligibility and completing the required application documents.

Greenville- On Tuesday, the Greenville School Board’s approval of a service agreement with The ProtoGen Group for adult workforce training is now the first step towards a workforce development campaign for Darke County. According to Superintendent Susie Riegle, the school has been working with the county’s Partnering for Progress (P4P) initiative and with local business officials for months towards the new wrinkle for the Greenville Career Technical Center (CTC).

Ramco Electric Motors will shortly be getting a new home in Greenville. The company has announced its purchase of the former Timmerman Truss facility in Greenville's industrial Park at 5763 Jaysville-St. Johns Road and expects to shortly begin the relocation process. The Darke County Economic Development (DCED) Office has completed the move to its new location in Suite 201 of The Palace at 537 South Broadway in Greenville. The office, which seeks to facilitate business development in Darke County, took up residency in its new home on Monday, May 23. DCED joins other development-oriented organizations, Main Street Grenville and The Darke County Visitor’s Bureau, already operating on the facility’s second floor.

Greenville- Greenville has been recognized by Site Selection magazine, a national publication devoted to economic development, as one of the Top 100 Micropolitans (city with a population between 10 -50,000) in the United States, based on 2010 development project statistics. The Darke County Economic Development Office was notified this week of The City's inclusion in the upcoming March issue of the publication.

A valuable county tool for economic development is officially back in use as the Darke County Revolving Loan (RLF) Program issued its first low-interest loan in more than 3 years to JAFE Decorating in Greenville. The closing for JAFE’s $112,500 loan (issued at a 2 percent interest rate over 7 years) was held on Friday, Dec 2. The company will use the money to purchase a new piece of equipment that will help create 6-10 new jobs, bringing JAFE’s employment to 40 by the end of 2010.
