UNION CITY, Ohio – In 2012, Union City Non-Ferrous Inc. didn’t give much notice that they were packing their bags and heading to South Carolina, but it was an opportunity that fit just fine with Cast Metal Technologies (CM-Tec), the company which purchased the facilities that Union City Non-Ferrous left empty, said Ryan Olney, general manager for CM-Tec.

“We started in Yorktown, Ind. and we’ve moved to Union City because we’ve outgrown that facility. With UC Non-ferrous moving to South Carolina, with that move that left a foundry that was fairly in-tact and had lot of the necessary equipment that we could come in and place our equip plus new into that facility and continue operations as a foundry,” Olney commented.

CM-Tec, an aluminum foundry, was founded in 1992 and since its inception has added locations in Winchester and Selma, Ind. Their Yorktown, Ind. facility was outgrown, and the company was looking for a location central to their other operations. The Union City Non-Ferrous plant was an ideal opportunity, said Olney.
