DARKE COUNTY – Local companies are working together to help a national company realize their goal of alternative fuel vehicles.

Three local companies are involved in the process of converting Ford utility trucks into alternative fuel vehicles which will be added to AT&T’s fleet, said Dale Mansfield, parts and service director for Dave Knapp Ford Lincoln Mercury in Greenville.

Dave Knapp Ford is acting as a “middleman” between Ford and AT&T, said Mansfield, accepting delivery of the Ford utility trucks, and then sending them on to two Union City, Ind. companies to upfit to AT&T’s specifications, he said.

“As part of AT&T’s overall commitment to deploy about 15,000 alternative fuel vehicles to our fleet by the end of 2018, the company currently has 121 alternative fuel vehicles deployed in Ohio,” said Sarah Briggs, director of public affairs for AT&T Ohio.
