Dayton Region Earns High Marks for Economic Development

The Dayton region has once again earned high marks for its economic development projects, according to a new ranking.

The Dayton region has once again earned high marks for its economic development projects, according to a new ranking.

Site Selection Magazine announced the Dayton metro area ranked eighth among cities of its size for economic development projects in its annual Governor’s Cup rankings, marking the 12th consecutive year the region has ranked in the top 10.

“The Governor’s Cup is the gold standard of economic development rankings in the country, evaluating the impact of projects in similar communities,” said Julie Sullivan, executive vice president of regional development for the Dayton Development Coalition. “Their rigorous evaluation of our work gives us a clear idea of where we stand."

In the greater Dayton region, Celina, Sidney, Greenville, Urbana, Wapakoneta and Wilmington were among the nation’s top 100 micropolitan cities with populations between 10,000 and 50,000 people.

Ohio ranked second among all states for the sixth straight year. Ohio has placed either first or second for more than 10 years, cementing the state’s role as a leader in job creation and business expansion......
