Economic Development is Major Focus

GREENVILLE – Mayor Mike Bowers has released his annual report to the Greenville City Council.

The mayor’s report is a compendium of information provided by the various city departments covering each department’s activities for 2014. Included are reports from the following departments: Wastewater Treatment; Parks and Recreation; Income Tax; Utilities; Water; Public Transportation; Board of Control; Architectural Review Board; Planning and Zoning; Streets; Fire; Police; and Safety Service.

Mayor’s letter

In his introductory letter to council, Bowers calls the economic development of Greenville a “major focus” of his seven years of service to the community.

“As a cumulative total, we have retained and grown over 1,400 jobs in the last four years,” he wrote. “That, in and of itself, is an important number. Combine that with the loss of a revenue stream four years earlier from cuts on a state level that averaged $1 million annually and the true importance of a strong retention and expansion program proves itself.”......
