FRAM Adds New Oil Filter Line

GREENVILLE — Fram will open a section of its plant that had been closed since 2011, which will allow the company to hire more people, and add the ability to produce additional filters.

GREENVILLE — Fram will open a section of its plant that had been closed since 2011, which will allow the company to hire more people, and add the ability to produce additional filters.

“We’re opening it up to a new oil filter line that’ll produce 20 million filters per year, with all new state-of-the-art equipment, and it is our newest generation of oil filters. It’ll make over 400 models,” Plant Manager John Staub said, adding that since 2011 and due to the expansion the company will employ 380 individuals and produce 105 million filters per year. “In 2011 when we were bought by Rank Group, we had 180 employees, and we made 40 million oil filters per year.”

One of Darke County’s top 10 employers, Fram was incorporated in 1932 in Rhode Island producing 10 filters a day. The Greenville facility opened in 1951 with just 13 production workers. Sixty-four years later production has grown to 360 employees and 400,000 filters per day.

The current expansion is a $5.4 million project....
