The 14-county Dayton and west Ohio region is leading the state in new business investment, according to JobsOhio.

John Minor, president and CIO of the state’s private development arm, recently gave a quarterly report of the project wins for the organization and its six affiliate organizations. For the first three months of 2014, Dayton won projects with the potential for the most jobs, followed by the Cleveland area.

The Dayton Development Coalition is the development group for the 14-county western region of the state.

In Dayton, Fuyao Glass America Inc. dominated headlines in January with its announcement of a $250 million investment at the former General Motors plant in Moraine, which will create 800 jobs.

News that Meijer would build a $100M dairy production facility in Tipp City to create 100 jobs, and that Whirlpool Corp. was investing $40 million to create 400 new jobs in Greenville, also came in the first quarter.
